Camera Critters: Winter Birds

Photographing birds is a favorite winter pastime for many and I must admit that while I concentrate on the larger animals and waterfowl, I do enjoy photographing the visitors to the feeding station.

I usually like to have the entire bird in the photograph, but today I used the 500mm F4 with 1.4 extender attached at extremely close range for a change of pace.

Nuthatch

Male Cardinal

  2. We have a male cardinal who beats up our cat and takes his food. I didn't know they liked catfood, but this one seems too.

I played CC in two spots today, Rattitude and My Ordinary Things

  12. I always look for the nuthatch but to date they have eluded me. As for the Cardinal is the elusive bird I will never see. Wonderful

  20. One of the most beautiful cardinal photos I have ever seen - so crisp - love how he's tilting his head - and how his eye is focused. And the nuthatch was in great position!
