Sky Watch Friday-A Cold Front Brings Dramatic Skies

The passing of a cold front brought dramatic skies to our area one afternoon during the past week. There were brief sunny spells, interspersed with periods of dark clouds, strong winds and rain showers.

At one point there was a stunning rainbow appeared. During it all, the deer grazed peacefully, oblivious to the beautiful surroundings. Their only concerns are feeding, mating, and escaping any danger which may present itself.

At first glance I thought that was snow in the first pic. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Cheers!

That photo of the rainbow with the grazing deer in the foreground is spectacular -- and I must say, it's a nature photographer's dream shot. Congratulations (and lucky you that you were in just the right place at just the right time!).

I just looked through several pages of your blog, and I really enjoyed it. This was my first visit, but will not be my last.

Two stunning photos. They skies are fantastic, but I really like the lighting on the ground.

Good point. I guess it is for moments like this, with a bow in the sky, that it is good to be a human and not a deer!

What a great shot Willard, a rainbow, the sly, fall colors, deer and the beautiful Pa. country side. The only thing missing is a large rack rack on one of them.

Most excellent Skywatch images!, Thanks for the equipment roundup and introducing us to your shooting pals.
Though I have to admit, that I practically never use a tripod.
Each his own - I guess! ;)
Cheers, Klaus

Those are both such fantastic photos, Willard. Hard to believe they were both caught the same day. But then, as my wife says, "Nothing changes quicker than the weather except a woman's mood." (Usually followed by, "So you just better watch it, buster!")

Wonderful SkyWatch post!
