Blog Thieves

Thanks to a tip from a fellow photographer I found that all of my blog entries are being posted on Photo Grind.com without being properly credited to me. It seems they are doing this to a lot of other nature oriented blogs also. To add insult to injury they actually have a copyright notice on each page, so they steal your material and then claim copyright privileges to it.

Stealing Photos And Content-What A Way To Go
Photo by W.Hill Any unauthorized use of this is THEFT

It seems that they are enrolled in AdSense and use this ploy to bring readers to their site. One can file a complaint with Adsense, but they must list all of the posts that were stolen and this must be done by fax or e-mail.

In the future all posts on this blog will include the following:

Original content posted at  http://pawildlifephotographer.blogspot.com/ If this content appears elsewhere without proper accreditation, it is stolen content.

You have got to be kidding Willard! I can't even believe they'd do this, what jerks! We need to catch up by the way!

This kind of thing is why I always add a copyright sign or something in the photos I put on the blog - doesn't stop them but at least readers with discerning know the photo's origins. I got one such blog shut down and even took over their URL for an extra blog of my own.

It is a nuisance but don't let them get you down though.

I just popped over to photogrind and they stole this one too. Pretty cute, here they are telling everyone that they are theives :)

That's why I made the post. I wanted that to happen. Some others who have been ripped off have done something similar.

I see Coy has got you to try the new Blogger template generator. This is one of my favorites and I have tried it several times.

There are some people, me among them, who has used big see-thru letterings or a large © symbol on the face of the picture to prevent this stuff from happening. It used to happen to me and probably still does.

I confronted the people and their response was, "Well, you have RSS Feeds turned on and anybody can see or copy what you publish." And they were right so the idea to use the copyright logo enlarged was used for a while.

Press down on the Alt key and at the same time type 0169 and let up on the Alt key to get the © symbol. If you use a type face like Impact then you will get a thick letter or symbol.

You can also use Windows Live Writer to write your blog posts and in that you can generate anything you want in the way of copyright information right on the picture.

As others have said Willard, © it.
If you have Picasa, you can put the © sign any where and any way , also you can fade it too so it does not spoil the shot.

Ugh! I'm so sorry about that theft...that is just awful and I hope some sort of justice is served there. That's SO frustrating. I had someone use one of my photos a few years back with crediting me and that annoyed me enough (but i even knew the person, i can't imagine this crap). I use the watermark thing on everything i put on the blog and resize photos so that they are smaller. Again, sorry about that nonsense! btw - thanks for your nice comments on my blog, much appreciated. You've got some awesome photos!

I'm sorry to hear this, but believe me, it's a common thing. It happens to me many times, and tracing them down was very time consuming! I hope Google bans that site..

I had this problem too a while back with blog thieves. I changed my feed form full to short, which meant the post was not fed through another site. Google really don't seem to be clamping down on this. Your work is stunning, and that's the point it's yours.

Stuff like this just makes me irate!!! I can't talk about it without losing my temper, so I better just keep my fingers quiet. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It's absolutely disgusting and ILLEGAL!

Thank you so much for informing me of this Willard. I left a fuller comment for you on my blog. From now on I will be putting my name on my pictures as well, not that it will stop them!!

Posting this was the smartest thing to do, Willard. Now we can all share this info with others. I hope this helps to spoil their reputation.

You have created a wonderful blog and your photos are Awesome.
Thanks for sharing the beauty of nature, Willard.

that really really sucks.

but at least there is a dose of humour in the situation as that stupid site has this blog post listed as well, describing how they are morons.

I see now that Coy also found their re-listing...
