What's She Thinking?

Here is a shot of one of my favorite subjects. This was taken quite recently with the Canon 40D and 500mmF4 lens. This deer totally accepts me and was not alarmed at my presence.

She and her cohorts, live over a mile from the nearest highway and are not likely to cause a collision such as happened to Kerri's son over the weekend. Although deer are my favorite animal they do cause problems at times. I am glad that her son escaped the encounter without injury!

Whitetail Doe aged 1 year 7 months

Deer in this area's main concerns are avoiding predators, poachers, trespassers, and road hunters.

When I see them this close I often watch their expressions and wonder what they are thinking about.

Do you name them, the ones you photograph frequently?

Probably, where can I have my baby in peace and quiet without the threat of dogs, men and automobiles. Somewhere there must be a sheltered place with food and water the good lord has made for me. Where is it?

Hello there Willard
Old Wom Tigley is showing me how to do comments today.

I'd like to say thank you for visiting my blog. I don't know when I'll get this chance again to say thank you.

I have sat here in Tom's kitchen looking at your blog in amazment at your pictures and video's. I can well imagine myself doing something along the same lines if I lived over there.

Keep up the very good work and I'll drop by when ever I can..

Rebecca is a beauty... It must be great to be able to come to know them so well. A great shot Willard.

I have had one of the most enjoyable, and amusing afternoons that I've had for a long time. Peter has never typed before, and like the rest of him his hands and is fingers are massive... I laughed until I cried watching him type.. I don't mean to sound horrid we both cracked up at it, I was calling him nams and would call me back... it was a good job Jane was out as the air got a bit blue at times.
Pete managed to visit most of the folk who had call on his blog. I don't know how often we can do this.. apart from the laughing it's a time things.. but what a hoot.
All the best Willard I'm already looking forward to your next post

Such beauty Willard, and so cute.
I have not had the chance to get any pics of deer close up as yet, still hoping tho.

Some yrs ago i had a deer jump out of a ditch as I was driving right into the side of my car, it fell into the ditch.
I pulled over the car was damaged on the wing, front and back doors also over the back wheel but was i was still able to drive it, my passengers were just shaken, we got out and this deer was still alive for he jump out again at the next car, this killed the deer and the car was a write off but still no one hurt, I found out that this chap as he got out of his car that i knew him. Anyway we called the Game keeper and he said he would take care of things. My friend called his insurance and got another car and we carried on in my car.

How beautiful. I think she is posing just for you and loving it!!! :) :) Good thing she doesn't live near the roadway. My parents have tons of deer around their home in Calif. They to are quite tame and will watch you watch them!! I am always super careful when driving around their house since I always see them on and near the road!! Great shot!

She's pretty, your Rebecca. When I lived way out in the country in Missouri there was a little deer that would come out of the woods and come up to us.
